The advent season is marked by anticipation as God’s people expectantly await the arrival of our hope, joy, peace, and love in Jesus. It is a time when we join in with the longing of Israel for the One of whom the prophets told, the messiah who would make things right and rescue them finally.
But as people who live on this side of the cross, we not only look forward to our hope, we also look back. We wait no more for this Messiah. We’ve seen his goodness. We’ve heard His voice. We know His heart. Jesus is our Emmanuel, our God with us. His promise is to be with us even to the end of the age.

While we still long for Christ to come again in glory and power to make all things new, our faith and our hope is anchored in what He has already done. Christ has come. Christ has died. Christ is risen. The wait is over.
